PENNY RIMBAUD - Christ’s Reality Asylum -LP €23.99 (One Little Indian) - Written and published as a journal of dissent in 1977 by Penny Rimbaud before the formation of anarchist tricksters Crass, Christ’s Reality Asylum became the template for much of the socio-political attitudes of the band. Crass’ first album, The Feeding of the Five Thousand, included a short section of the journal, going under the title of Reality Asylum, which led to immediate interest from the authorities. Charges of ‘criminal blasphemy’ were eventually dropped, but from that time on Crass were under constant surveillance by the police and MI5 (the New York mafia didn’t like it either!). In short, Christ’s Reality Asylum is Crass in a very large nutshell.

STANLEY TURRENTINE - That's Where It's At - LP €36.99 (Blue Note) - What happens when you combine Stanley Turrentine’s blues-drenched tenor saxophone with Les McCann’s soulful and funky piano? You end up with one of both men's best albums, an album considered to be one of the foundational sessions of soul jazz. Turrentine and McCann are joined by bassist Herbie Lewis (a member of McCann’s group at the time) and drummer Otis “Candy” Finch. JOE HENDERSON - The State Of The Tenor: Live At The Village Vanguard, Vol.1 - LP €36.99 (Blue Note) - Joe Henderson on tenor saxophone, Ron Carter on bass, and Al Foster on drums captured live in 1985 playing at the peak of their respective powers at NYC’s historic jazz shrine, The Village Vanguard. Alfred Lion, founder of Blue Note Records and its sole producer until 1967, said upon hearing these sessions: “I think this is truly a classic album. What Joe plays is unbelievable. This is one of the most important albums that I have ever heard. It is definitely one of the best ever made on Blue Note. And I don’t mean the new Blue Note. It’s one of the best ever, including all of the records we did in the 50s and 60s.”

Over 30 years later, in 1999, the two longtime friends joined forces to create a collection of all new studio recordings of blues classics and contemporary songs. The resulting album Riding with the King would be released in June 2000 and go onto sell over 4 million copies globally and win a Grammy Award for Best Traditional Blues Album. To celebrate the 20th anniversary of this classic album, two additional previously unreleased tracks have been added: The blues standard Rollin’ and Tumblin’ and a cover of Willie Dixon’s Let Me Love You Baby. Both tracks were recorded during the original sessions and were produced and mixed especially for this release by Simon Climie, who produced the original album with Clapton. The original tapes have been remastered by Bob Ludwig
