Through out the album Richard’s sombre, dark songs are driven by his masterful understated electric guitar and Linda’s haunting spiritual vocals. One of the most essential British folk rock records ever!

RICHARD & LINDA THOMPSON – Hokey Pokey – LP €20.99 (Island) – Vinyl - Richard and Linda’s second LP. Released in 1975. Hokey Pokey is a much jollier release than its predecessor, I Want To See The Bright Lights Tonight. Richard always envisaged Hokey Pokey as “a music-hall influenced record”. He was a big fan of Harry Lauder and Gracie Fields, and this inspiration can be seen in the Victorian style cover by Shirt Sleeve Studio, and is audible on the title track, Hokey Pokey and also Georgie On A Spree.

RICHARD & LINDA THOMPSON – Pour Down Like Silver – LP €20.99 (Island) – Vinyl - Richard and Linda’s third studio album from 1975. , Pour Down Like Silver also known as The Sufi album due to Richard’s recent conversion to Islam, is a more restrained and spartan album compared to its lusher sounding predecessors

AFEL BOCOUM – Lindé – LP €23.99 (World Circuit) - Afel Bocoum is among the last of a breakthrough generation of African musicians who cross-pollinated their own traditional music with the new sounds that arrived from all over the world throughout the 20th century. Hailing from Niafunké in the Timbuktu region of Mali, an area that straddles the cultural riches and political tensions between the northern and southern areas of the country, Bocoum spent decades touring and recording with desert blues pioneer Ali Farka Touré. His debut album Alkibar (1999, World Circuit) propelled him to international recognition, leading him to work with Damon Albarn and Toumani Diabaté on 2002’s Mali Music, as well as contributing regularly to the famed Africa Express projects, and collaborating with Béla Fleck, Habib Koité, and Tartit Ensemble among others.

Bcos U Will Never B Free is the debut album by singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Rex Orange County. Written and recorded in his bedroom at the age of 16, it caught a wave of interest when it was self released on 4th September 2015 on his bandcamp page.

Brian Setzer, Lee Rocker, and Slim Jim Phantom reunited in 2019 to celebrate their 40th Anniversary, released their first new studio album in 26 years called 40, and toured Europe and America, celebrating 40 years of timeless rock ‘n roll and rockabilly.

HARRY BECKETT – Joy Unlimited – LP €28.99 (Cadillac Records) – Limited Edition Vinyl - The greatly missed trumpeter Harry Beckett has become incredibly collectable in recent times, with this album reaching significant sums, appealing to both Brit-jazz fans and the digging community after those elusive open drum breaks. The music is amongst the best he made in his career and features the funky guitar of Ray Russell in a number of superb Latin and Caribbean jazz fusion workouts. A gem and a lost classic.

STANLEY TURRENTINE – That’s Where It’s At – LP €36.99 (Blue Note) - What happens when you combine Stanley Turrentine’s blues-drenched tenor saxophone with Les McCann’s soulful and funky piano? You end up with one of both men’s best albums, an album considered to be one of the foundational sessions of soul jazz. Turrentine and McCann are joined by bassist Herbie Lewis (a member of McCann’s group at the time) and drummer Otis “Candy” Finch. Stand out tracks include Smile, Stacey, the deep blue groove of Soft Pedal Blues and the in-the-pocket soul of Light Blue. That’s where it’s at!

BOBBY HUTCHERSON – The Kicker – LP €36.99 (Blue Note) - Recorded in 1963, The Kicker was actually vibraphonist Bobby Hutcherson’s first session as a leader for Blue Note, but for reasons lost to time it was shelved, and instead Hutcherson’s album Dialogue was released as his debut two years later. First released in 1999, and getting its first-ever vinyl release here, The Kicker is a sequel to guitarist Grant Green’s masterpiece Idle Moments, which was recorded one month earlier with the exact same personnel featuring Green, tenor saxophonist Joe Henderson, pianist Duke Pearson, bassist Bob Cranshaw, and drummer Al Harewood.
