Wyatt Smith - Ever [Japanese Import] Wyatt Smith

California singer-songwriter Wyatt Smith returns with his first album in six years, and ever finally receives its long-awaited worldwide vinyl debut!

Hailing from California, Wyatt Smith has earned a devoted following among indie music fans with his understated songwriting, melancholic melodies, and deeply personal approach to music. His acclaimed 2020 album Maple became a cult favorite, resonating especially with listeners drawn to the intimate, emotionally raw songwriting of artists such as Alex G and Elliott Smith.

Now, after a six-year wait, ever continues the emotional thread of Maple, weaving together indie folk, indie rock, and slowcore into a collection that feels both fragile and quietly beautiful. Smith's ability to find warmth within loneliness gives every song a distinctive emotional weight.

The opening track “bye bye” immediately establishes this atmosphere, pairing gentle melancholy with the understated intensity of slowcore. “top of the candle” follows with an intriguing combination of lo-fi indie rock textures, cassette-friendly aesthetics, and melodies that carry the emotional sensibility of 2020s emo. On “guitarfreestyle,” Smith even experiments with a rap-influenced vocal delivery while retaining the subdued, downbeat character that defines his music.

These are not songs designed for instant mass appeal. Instead, Wyatt Smith creates music that quietly finds its way into the listener's heart, offering a rare combination of tenderness and sadness that feels deeply personal.

With ever, one of California's most compelling underground singer-songwriters delivers an intimate record that deserves to be experienced in its physical form. Now, for the first time ever, this beautiful and understated album is available on vinyl worldwide.
