This autumn, Wasps vs Humans (WvHs) release their second album, The Day Homo Sapiens Destroyed the Earth, on Friday 2 October 2026.

Recorded between Dublin and Cork, the album is the culmination of two years of gigging, capturing the raw energy of the live show in a harder, grittier yet more melodic sound. Heavy guitar riffs and thundering beats collide with harmonies, folk influences, whistles and bodhrán — though there’s not a trad song in sight.

At its core, the album is a darkly humorous take on humanity’s seemingly unstoppable pursuit of destroying itself and the planet. It’s doom, death, war and social decay viewed through the WvHs lens: angry, absurd, sarcastic and sometimes painfully close to the bone.

BANG BANG (You’re Dead) sets the tone. Childhood games of pretending to kill become PlayStation battles, drone warfare and adults playing war for real. My Country’s Like A Broken Pen turns its gaze towards a broken society, while Are You Having A Good Dream brings things closer to home, asking what happened to the hopes and dreams we once had. Death Chamber Visits confronts murder and responsibility head-on: whoever pulls the trigger, murder is murder. And America is never far away — a culture where school shooting drills have become part of everyday life, yet remains unable to confront its obsession with guns. At the top of the pile sits the ultimate ode to America’s current president: God Is Not On Trump’s Side. No explanation needed. And beneath all the noise, anger and absurdity, Dead Volcanoes turns inward, touching on loss and those who didn’t make it through life’s fight.

With their incendiary live shows, WvHs are an anarchic mix of drums, bodhrán, whistles, punk poetry, songs and beats. A sonic assault, their brand of electronic punk-folk energy tackles disappointment, inner-city crime, a fame-obsessed culture and social decay with a huge dollop of desperation, balanced by equal measures of anger and wit, creating a darkly humorous soundtrack to modern life.
