Born out of in Rio de Janeiro in the late '50s and early '60s, bossa nova was soon embraced by American jazz musicians, including tenor saxophonist Stan Getz , who helped bring its sound to audiences around the world, most famously with the international hit 'The Girl from Ipanema' featuring singer Astrud Gilberto from the Verve album Getz/Gilberto.
