Featuring bluesy Syl Johnson’s Could I Be Falling in Love, sampled by Raekwon, this mix kicks off with hip-hop flair in full force, with DEV LARGE’s signature double-copy technique on Al Green’s drum-break classic I’m Glad You’re Mine.Syl Johnson’s The Love You Left Behind, with its low-slung vocals and irresistibly funky groove, appears twice with different pitch treatments. The deep, compelling progression draws out contrasting moods from the same track.Along the way, the mix passes through O.V.Wright’s Let’s Straighten It Out, sampled by Wu-Tang Clan, before closing with Al Green’s timeless classic Love and Happiness, a song that has inspired countless samples and covers. This is soul! This reissue also includes newly added director’s notes by Hideo "JAM" Hosoda.
