MADE IN DUBLIN is a previously unreleased studio album by Tommy Flanagan recorded in Dublin featuring leading local drummer legend John Wadham and a young New York bass player, Lindsey Horner.

The recording was an impromptu session suggested by John following a concert the trio gave in August 1984. The five trio and three solo tracks include compositions by Charlie Parker, Thelonious Monk, Oscar Pettiford, Thad Jones, Jerome Kern and George Gershwin. Lindsey recalls Tommy was in “bluesy mood” and wanted to keep things loose. John was the one who suggested Tommy play a few solo tunes.

The results are sparkling versions of many well-known tunes, great trio interplay and three solo gems.

Interestingly, Blues in the Closet, was also on Tommy’s 1984 album release, with Tony Williams and Ron Carter. The tape was discovered in the late John Wadham’s archives by fellow drummer and Irish jazz archivist Conor Guilfoyle. Lindsey Horner contributes the sleeve notes.
