Creeping Bent will release Orangutang by The Sexual Objects in September 2025. The band was formed in 2006 by Scottish music legend Davy Henderson (Fire Engines, Win, The Nectarine No. 9). Orangutang is the first album released by the group to be readily available - Previous Sexual Objects albums were either only released in Germany, available in extremely limited quantities or deleted and never released.
Orangutang features 3 tracks produced by Boards of Canada and highlights across its 10 tracks why the Sexual Objects are much revered. The Sexual Objects were formed in 2006 by Davy Henderson after activity termination by The Nectarine No.9, who had released 5 albums via the Postcard, Creeping Bent, and Beggars labels.
Perhaps in contrast to the perception that The Nectarine No.9 were about albums, Henderson set about constructing the Sexual Objects as being more about singles. The initial idea was to write a song, rehearse a song, record a song, release a song.
A debut single, "Full Penetration," was released on 7” on the Creeping Bent label followed by 7” singles released on the Aufgeladen Und Bereit / Aktion Und Spass labels in Hamburg and Say Dirty in Glasgow. The singles were collected for a vinyl album collection (Cucumber) released in Germany by Creeping Bent and Aktion Und Spass.
The Sexual Objects did a complete volte-face in deciding to abandon the concept of releasing singles when they released the Cream Split Up mini-album followed by the unique manufacture of only one vinyl copy of the Marshmallow album, both releases were in 2015 on the Creeping Bent / Eyelids in the Rain imprint.
Prior to Sexual Objects/The Nectarine No.9, Davy Henderson came to prominence with Fire Engines, working with Fast Product supremo Bob Last (who produced and packaged Fire Engines for his pop:aural label). Henderson then formed Win and worked with major-backed label Swamplands.
