North Miami Beach’s Belles were remarkably free of any masculine influence—an all-girl, teen rock band that played instruments, wrote songs, and were a good representation of multiculturalism in the 60s. The Belles’ lone single featured “Melvin,” is a gender-swapped rewrite of Them’s “Gloria,” / “Come Back.” is pure representation of girls in the garage.
