Takeo Moriyama - Mana Takeo Moriyama
Limited Edition Vinyl 2LP with faithfully reproduced original liner notes written by Kazutomi Aoki for the album’s initial 1994 release, Japanese Import
A ferocious rhythmic force drives this landmark recording from Takeo Moriyama, one of the towering figures of Japanese jazz and widely regarded as one of its most powerful drummers.
Originally recorded in April 1994, the album became the catalyst for Moriyama’s artistic revival and is now receiving its first-ever analog vinyl release.
Backed by a formidable ensemble featuring Fumio Itabashi on piano, Yoshihiko Inoue on soprano and tenor saxophone, Eiichi Hayashi on alto saxophone and Hiroshi Yoshino on bass, Moriyama delivers an overwhelming performance that channels the full intensity, physicality and fighting spirit at the core of his music — what became known as “Moriyama’s body.”
This new LP edition also faithfully reproduces the original liner notes written by Kazutomi Aoki for the album’s initial 1994 release, preserving the historical context surrounding one of the essential works of modern Japanese jazz.
