In 2021 The Winged Heels convened in studio to record our 2nd album - a motley & inspired collection of songs by Steve Kilbey. The themes of the songs are far-reaching, bound loosely by the thread of outback Australia. The songs are almost roving ballads, originally intended as a musical, composed during Steve's 'magical mystery' bus tour through rural Australia.

It's now almost impossible to remember who played which instruments during four days of intense recording & arranging, but what emerged was The Winged Heels signature blend of pop-rock-ancient-medieval-classical-troubadour touches.

Steve plays his 12-string & sings throughout, & on selected tracks adds bass & electric guitar. Gareth provides much of the bass work (he tended to hog the bass) & contributes classical guitar, resonator guitar, electric guitar & some back-up vocals. Roger plays keyboard & cello, while Barton features on drums & percussion.

So now at last, after a longish wait, The Winged Heels are excited to present our latest album - 'The Road to Tibooburra'.
