Shintaro Sakamoto is a Japanese composer, producer, writer and singer based in Tokyo. He began his career in 1989 as a member of the acclaimed psych-rock band Yura Yura Teikoku, where he played guitar and sang over the course of 21 years, releasing 10 LPs.
His highly anticipated new album, Yoo-hoo, was released digitally on January 23, 2026 via Zelone Records, and is set to be released on LP on July 31.
Yoo-hoo, Sakamoto’s first new album since 2022, reflects his recent live experiences abroad while showcasing a diverse range of sounds, including blues, mood kayō, 1960s soul, surf instrumentals and funk.
