Samara Joy has announced a new studio album Portrait, set for release on October 11 via Verve Records.

Emerging from an unrelenting global touring schedule, the recording finds Joy channeling her success into the pursuit of musical exploration.

Portrait, the follow up to her 2022 breakout album Linger Awhile, offers a snapshot of the 24-year-old Bronx native’s growth not only as a celebrated vocalist but also as songwriter, arranger and band leader.

The band, consisting of horn player (and the song's arranger) Jason Charos, saxophonists David Mason and Kendrick McCallister, trombonist Donavan Austin, bass player Felix Moseholm, drummer Evan Sherman and pianist Connor Rohrer,  gives Samara's voice the runway to fly. And fly she does as her voice takes us from velvety lows to crystalline highs with seeming effortlessness. It a feeling as lovely as the picture the lyrics paint of a love that's seemed to materialize from fantasy into real life.
