One of European jazz’s defining figures and ACT’s most successful artist, with more than 60 albums to his name. ‘Mr Red Horn’ is a trombonist and vocalist who also works as bandleader, composer, producer, talent scout and festival director, yet stays famously approachable. Known by many as ‘the hardest-working man in the business’, playing 200-plus concerts a year. Turned 70 in February 2026 - this release is part of the birthday celebrations.

This is a live recording of the ‘Jazz at Berlin Philharmonic’ concert marking Nils’s 70th birthday at the Berlin Philharmonie. A tribute to his idol and later collaborator, the late Joe Sample, built around songs with a deep personal connection to Nils. The album pairs leading jazz musicians with the outstanding brass players of the Berlin Philharmonic.
