Michelle Burke - Mind How You Go Michelle Burke

When Angelus bells meet Murder, She Wrote, Michelle Burke's album Mind How You Go opens a scrapbook of inherited storiesreal characters, contradictions, and the beautifully strange details that refuse to fit neatly - Produced by Duke Special, the album features guest appearances from Rhiannon Giddens, Inge Thomson, Linda Buckley and Chris Hillman, alongside collaborations with Boo Hewerdine and Kathryn Williams

Burke is drawn to objects and the lives they quietly carry: the dusty photo on the mantelpiece of Great Uncle Pat, decked out in a tuxedo at San Francisco airport. A Hillman Hunter sitting outside the house in East Cork for months, waiting for the arrival of the American cousins and carrying imagined journeys it couldn't yet makefinally taking to the road on the very day they touched down at Shannon airport, the day they put the man on the moon. Great Uncle Tom's poem written from his Spike Island prison cell during the Irish War of Independence. A sixteen- year- old twin sneaking out to a village dance.

The songs rise from these in-between spaces: where the sacred meets the everyday, where glamour meets grit, where carrying invisible luggage never quite ends.

Rooted in folk tradition yet unmistakably contemporary, Mind How You Go weaves inherited scalta with her own, carrying them forward with warmth, wit and grace.
