Michael Brook - Cobalt Blue & Live at the Aquarium (2026 Remaster) Michael Brook
Reissues of Albums Cobalt Blue & Live at the Aquarium. First Repressing of Cobalt Blue on Vinyl & Debut Pressing of Live at the Aquarium - Crystal Clear Vinyl 2LP
Inventor of the “infinite guitar,” Canadian musician Michael Brook created one of the hidden gems of the 4AD catalogue with his 1992 album Cobalt Blue — a timeless and quietly breathtaking collection of instrumental pieces and shimmering dreamscapes.
The record features contributions from ambient music pioneer Brian Eno, composer and multi-instrumentalist Roger Eno, and Grammy-winning producer Daniel Lanois, helping shape its richly immersive and atmospheric soundworld.
Recorded later that same year, Live at the Aquarium captures a rare solo performance by Brook in London, foregrounding the hypnotic sustain, spacious textures and meditative atmosphere that have long defined his work.
Beyond his solo recordings, Michael Brook has also built an acclaimed career as a film composer, scoring celebrated works including Into the Wild, Brooklyn and An Inconvenient Truth.
Newly remastered by Rashad Becker and presented as a crystal clear 2LP edition featuring artwork by Alison Fielding based on the original v23 designs, this release marks the first-ever vinyl reissue of Cobalt Blue alongside the vinyl debut of Live at the Aquarium — a long-overdue celebration of one of 4AD’s most underrated masterpieces.
