In 1998, songwriting & production duo Emily Haines & Jimmy Shaw formed Metric & left Toronto for NYC in search of like-minded artists. In '01/'02, they were joined by drummer Joules Scott Key & bassist Joshua Winstead, & found themselves at the centre of the city’s burgeoning alt-rock scene alongside bands like LCD Soundsystem, The Strokes, TV On the Radio, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Interpol & more.

Synthetica is the fifth studio album by Canadian indie rock band Metric, featuring the singles "Youth Without Youth" and "Speed the Collapse". Sonically futuristic yet organic, Synthetica sounds like the culmination of a decade of evolution that defined the band’s early years—an album that remains as bold and resonant today as it was upon its 2012 release.
