Grammy nominee Méav releases Sweet Sorrow, her brand-new album, on Friday, October 23rd 2026, on White Vinyl

Méav is known internationally for her crystalline voice and distinctive interpretations of contemporary and traditional songs. Her new album, written with multi-award-winning film composer Stephen Rennicks, brings her distinctive blend of Irish traditional and classical influences into conversation with Stephen's acclaimed contemporary minimalist writing, creating an intimate and deeply personal musical landscape.

These ten original songs by Méav Ní Mhaolchatha and Stephen Rennicks are a meditation on grief, memory and consolation. Through an exchange of melodies, harmonic sketches, poems and fragments of text, these ideas were gradually woven into songs that speak quietly but powerfully about love, absence and remembrance. They combine Méav's distinctive blend of Irish traditional and classical influences with Stephen's acclaimed contemporary minimalist writing, creating an intimate and deeply personal musical landscape.

The album was recorded with engineer Hugh Drumm at his Dún Laoghaire studio, where many of Stephen's celebrated film scores have been created. It was mixed in New York by Thomas Bartlett, whose collaborators include Taylor Swift, Norah Jones and The Gloaming, and mastered by Josh Bonati.
