From Korea to Asia and beyond — one of the most exciting voices in the Korean indie scene, Meaningful Stone, returns with a beautiful new chapter. Featuring US West Coast indie artist and songwriter Jay Som, “To: Hana” is a captivating collection where dreamy pop and indie folk intertwine to create a crystal-clear, atmospheric soundscape.

Following her acclaimed 2024 second album “Angel Interview,” which expanded her sound with roaring guitars and alternative rock influences, Meaningful Stone takes a more delicate and melodic direction on her latest EP “To: Hana.” Built around beautiful melodies and harmonies, warm vocals, and an organic band ensemble, the EP explores themes of belief, hope, separation, and personal transformation, capturing the process of becoming a new version of oneself.

The opening title track “To: Hana” sets the tone with gentle guitars and an expansive dream-pop soundscape. “1+1=0” follows with an especially notable US-Korea crossover: acclaimed US West Coast singer-songwriter and producer Jay Som contributes to the production, arrangement, songwriting, instrumentation, and recording, resulting in a refreshing, floating indie-pop track where Korean and American indie sensibilities naturally converge.

“Summer, Summer, Summer” delivers a breezy indie-pop sound tinged with the bittersweet feeling of summer, while “Happiness is an angel with a serious face” shifts into serene indie folk, incorporating acoustic guitar and mandolin. The EP closes with the lively indie-rock track “Seoul Station,” bringing the five-song journey to an end like a letter addressed to Hana—the central image suggested by the title.

With “To: Hana,” Meaningful Stone further develops the distinctive world she has built throughout her career, transforming it into a sophisticated and internationally accessible sound that reaches far beyond Korea and Japan to resonate with indie audiences across North America and Europe.

Meaningful Stone

Meaningful Stone is the solo project of Seoul-based singer-songwriter and musician Kim Ji-min. She began playing guitar and writing original songs at the age of 15 before launching her solo career in 2017.

After steadily releasing singles and performing live, she became an increasingly prominent figure in Korea’s indie scene. In 2020, she released her debut album “A Call from My Dream,” which won the Best New Artist award at the 2021 Korean Music Awards. She followed it with the EP “COBALT” later that year.

Meaningful Stone continued to expand her musical horizons through a series of singles and EPs, culminating in her acclaimed second album “Angel Interview” in 2024, which was nominated for Best Modern Rock Album at the Korean Music Awards.

Now active both in Korea and internationally, including performances and releases in Japan and other overseas markets, Meaningful Stone enters a new phase with “To: Hana,” her August 2026 EP featuring Jay Som—a release that firmly positions her as a compelling new voice connecting the Korean indie scene with the global alternative music community.
