Marconi Union return with Multiforms: Ambient Transmissions Vol. 3, the latest chapter in their long-running Ambient Transmissions series, released via Just Music. The album will be accompanied by a full-length audiovisual visualiser premiering on release day, further extending the project's immersive world.

Long regarded as one of the most distinctive voices in contemporary ambient and electronic music, the Mancunian outfit have spent more than two decades refining a sound that defies easy categorisation. From their 2003 debut Under Wires and Searchlights through a succession of critically acclaimed releases, their work has consistently balanced texture, emotion, and spatial depth. As Uncut succinctly observed: "Few others offer mellow journeys into night as effectively as Marconi Union."

Multiforms: Ambient Transmissions Vol. 3 builds on the foundations established by Beautifully Falling Apart (Vol. 1) (2011) and Weightless (Vol. 2) (2012). The latter introduced the group's most widely recognised composition, Weightless. Conceived as a complete listening experience, Multiforms: Ambient Transmissions Vol. 3 unfolds as a single continuous piece, with each movement flowing seamlessly into the next. There are no standout tracks by design; instead, the album invites total immersion, encouraging listeners to drift through shifting atmospheres, serene soundscapes, and quietly evolving emotional states. Both expansive and intimate, it is music created for deep listening.

Opening with Multiform I, the album gradually emerges into focus through a measured build, rising towards an expansive and quietly ecstatic crescendo. Throughout the record, Marconi Union further refine their beatless approach, using subtle shifts in tone and harmony to create the sensation of floating while remaining in constant forward motion.

At its midpoint, Multiform IV introduces a near-subliminal pulse beneath shimmering melodic layers, while blissful arpeggios drift in and out of the foreground. The closing piece, Multiform VI, provides a soft and reflective landing, built around resonant piano chords and a gentle undercurrent of melancholy, bringing the album to a calm, emotionally resonant conclusion.
