Leenalchi - Sugungga Leenalchi

This is the first full-length release from South Korea's beloved pansori psych-pop band LEENALCHI available worldwide.

The release follows an extremely successful and eventful year for LEENALCHI. They had their first-ever North American tour, opening for Japanese Breakfast at Stern Grove, sessions at KCRW and (rumor has it) KEXP, and in the fall they'll be on the East Coast, including opening for Geese at Forest Hills on the very same date this record comes out (October 2).

LEENALCHI is led by the great composer Jang Young-Gyu, who has undoubtedly scored all your favorite Korean horror movies, including The Wailing, Train to Busan, and The Good, The Bad, The Weird.

Sugungga sounds like animals talking to each other over tripped-out bass lines. It gets its name from the old Korean folk tale about a clever and loyal turtle who tries to lure a rabbit underwater and into the lair of a Dragon King who has come down with an illness that can only be cured by the rabbit's liver.
