Back on vinyl for the first time since 2018, Joe Armon-Jones and Maxwell Owin’s collaborative EP ‘Idiom’ was a standout release in the burgeoning south London jazz scene when it dropped on YAM recordings in 2017. Now, the landmark EP is re-released on Joe Armon-Jones's own Aquarii Records.

'Idiom' is the result of multiple collaborations under the direction of Joe and Maxwell. Featuring Nubya Garcia, Oscar Jerome and Jake Long, it is heavily influenced by the hardcore continuum and covers everything from 2-step, broken-beat and house to jazz and dub.

Joe & Max followed up idiom in 2023 with full-length project ‘Archetype’ [AQU006], which saw the pair expand their sonic palette even further, enlisting features from the likes of Mala, Shabaka Hutchings, Lex Amor, and Fatima.
