Dolphin Music is proud to announce the 2026 re-issue of The Song of the Singing Horseman, the acclaimed debut album by one of Ireland’s most treasured songwriters, Jimmy MacCarthy. Available again on CD and as a limited-edition coloured vinyl LP, this special re-release brings a defining collection of Irish songwriting back to listeners in physical formats.

Originally released in 1991, The Song of the Singing Horseman gathers some of MacCarthy’s best-loved songs, including Ride On, No Frontiers, Mystic Lipstick, Missing You, The Bright Blue Rose and Ancient Rain. Long admired for his lyrical imagination, melodic craft and distinctive voice, MacCarthy has written songs that have become part of the fabric of Irish music, recorded and performed by many of the country’s leading artists.

The re-release offers both longtime followers and a new generation of listeners the chance to experience the album in its full form: a rich, atmospheric work blending contemporary folk, traditional textures and poetic storytelling. From the haunting pull of Ride On to the expansive title track, The Song of the Singing Horseman this album remains a powerful statement from a songwriter whose work continues to resonate across generations.

The limited-edition LP pressing is presented on white coloured vinyl and includes insert notes in Jimmy’s own words, offering a personal account of how the album came to be.

Jimmy MacCarthy will perform two nights at the National Concert Hall and two nights at Cork Opera House, bringing his songs to the stage, to celebrate the re-release of this iconic album.
