George Adequate - Reasonable Things George Adequate
Limited Vinyl LP
Existentially exhausted middle-aged musician seeks like-minded people to share the misery.....and maybe more.
After years spent behind the scenes booking acts for KnockanStockan and Sweeneys, and a good few years on creative sabbatical, it’s finally time to emerge from hibernation and engage with the world again in the only way he knows how. Tempers calmed, expectations in check, outlook reasonable. It's time to do the music.
George Adequate is the result of years spent solo in his studio in Kildare without any real aim or goal. Simply writing, playing, learning the art of recording, experimenting with sounds and themes and seeing what happens. No agenda, just a rekindled love for creating and the wisdom to understand how unbelievably lucky he is to be in a position to do just that.
Thousands of hours, hundreds of demos, half ideas, scrapped projects, appalling missteps and some genuinely beautiful mistakes and here we are, Reasonable Things is the first batch of recordings ready for human consumption.
Written and recorded primarily on his tod with a little help from his friends along the way, this album (and the rest to follow) could easily have stayed in hard drive limbo. If it weren’t for the serendipitous encounter with label mates Underachiever & The Letdowns (of which he’s now also a Letdown - on lead bass) and producer, engineer, scene legend and generally very nice person Chris Barry, these songs might never have seen the light of day.
