Fucked Up’s “Year of the Rooster” concludes “Grass Can Move Stones” their dizzying narrative trilogy which sees the last three releases in their 20 year “Zodiac” project across the line. Wrapped in the bands own musical and philosophical folklore, Fucked Up found ways to weave in elements of psychedelia, prog, AOR, punk, thrash, doom, and their permanent and lasting gift of guitar omnipotence to this monumental release.

Spanning nearly 90 minutes “Year of the Rooster” hosts an impressive cast of collaborators including Thurston Moore (Sonic Youth), John Brannon (Negative Approach), Debsey Wykes (Dolly Mixture), Keith Morris (Circle Jerks), Graeme MacKinnon (Home Front), and Mac Kennedy (Poison Ruin). From start to finish Fucked Up gives us a non stop cinema of sound that has rarely, if ever, been matched by any of their contemporaries.
