Fontaines D.C. return with Skinty Fia, their third studio album in as many years, following the success of A Hero's Death, which reached No. 2 in the UK, earned nominations at the GRAMMY, BRIT, and Ivor Novello Awards, and saw the band sell out London's Alexandra Palace.

Used colloquially as an expletive, Skinty Fia roughly translates from Irish as "the damnation of the deer". The title reflects themes of identity, displacement, and cultural change, with the album unfolding as part bittersweet romance and part darkly political statement. Together, the songs form a long-distance love letter that laments an increasingly privatised culture in danger of disappearing, much like the extinct Irish giant deer.
