First Class and Coach are a four piece band based in Ballydehob, West Cork, Ireland. NYC meets Berlin meets West Cork. Seeking to push the boundaries of the indie-rock genre the sound has a variety of color... reverb-drenched piano, distorted, squalling guitars, driving bass and muscular drums all punctuated by uncompromising German / English vocals.
Sonic Youth fans will probably find the lost top album from the early 2000s here. And yet nothing is copied here. And when the singer allows herself to sing two pieces in German, one feels very pleasantly reminded of the Niko period, when the German language was still accepted abroad without the Teutonic cliché as a genuine timbre and as a very independent means of expression. The production is raw but fully to the point, with no audible Pro Tools automation.
Formed in 2017 by Reuben Maher (guitars, keys, vocals), Jonathan Parson (bass), Geraldine Thomas (vocals) and McNeilage, the band enlisted Tony Maimone (Pere Ubu) of StudioG in Brooklyn to produce their acclaimed debut album, The Truth About Honey.
