Félicia Atkinson reworks the score to Les Yeux Sans Visage, Georges Franju’s 1960 cult horror, recasting its eerie atmosphere through her distinctive, abstract sound world.

Originally commissioned by Brussels arts centre VIERNULVIER for its Videodroom series, the piece condenses a full-length live score into a focused 34-minute recording. Atkinson’s approach mirrors the film’s pacing and unease, using voice, texture and silence to suggest movement between states—where identity slips and transformation lingers just out of reach.

Rather than underscoring the action, the music opens up space around it, hinting at unseen forces and quiet rupture. There’s a persistent sense of tension, but also something more ambiguous: a pull toward release, or elsewhere.
