After the smash success of “Ella and Louis” in 1956, an album sequel was quickly set up by Verve Records. And what a sequel it was: “Ella and Louis Again”, released following year, was a double LP this time, and just as wonderful as its predecessor. In contrast to the previous collaboration, this album features seven solo vocal tracks by either Armstrong or Fitzgerald amongst its dozen duet tracks. The fantastic Oscar Peterson Trio returns as the duo's backing, this time along with drummer Louie Bellson.

The duo that critics have called "a match made in heaven" are in peak form on the sequel to their 1956 debut. Ella's voice—warm and sweet as honey—and Louis' gravelly croon formed a sound built for commercial success. Ella & Louis Again is a key element of what could be considered the most iconic jazz duo of all time.
