‘Under a Funeral Moon’ is the third studio album by Norwegian black metal band Darkthrone. The album was first released in June 1993 and is considered an important milestone in the genre of extreme metal. It continues the dark and raw style that Darkthrone had established on their previous albums, and is often considered a highlight of their artistic output.
‘Under a Funeral Moon’ presents an eerie atmosphere characterised by cold, frantic guitar riffs, aggressive drum rhythms and harsh, distorted vocals. The album is known for its minimalist production, which at the time was a conscious departure from the increasingly elaborate production techniques.
