Buckshot Lefonque - Music Evolution (2026 Reissue) Buckshot Lefonque
Limited edition of 1000 individually numbered copies on pink coloured vinyl. Includes insert. 180-gram audiophile vinyl.
Music Evolution is the second and last album by the all-star jazz/hip-hop/R&B fusion project Buckshot LeFonque. Led by none other than jazz saxophonist Branford Marsalis, the project was named after Buckshot La Funke, a one-time pseudonym used by alto sax legend Cannonball Adderley for contractual reasons.
The album peaked at number 8 on the Billboard Top Contemporary Jazz Albums chart and features guest performances by rapper Guru, Laurence Fishburne, and the highly regarded session musician David Sanborn. While his brother Wynton holds conservative views regarding jazz, his brother is quite the opposite; here, we see him effortlessly embracing and fusing hip-hop, R&B, and rock into a sonic explosion infused with the joy of playing, to paraphrase People magazine. The track "Another Day" reached number 65 in the UK singles chart in December 1997.
Music Evolution is available as a limited edition of 1000 copies on 180g pink coloured vinyl and includes an insert.
