Bill Evans & Jim Hall - Undercurrent Bill Evans & Jim Hall
Complete LP with 2 bonus tracks, gatefold edition on 180g vinyl, with cover image by renowned American photographer Toni Frissell.
Bill Evans and Jim Hall first recorded together in 1959 during the sessions for the soundtrack Odds Against Tomorrow, followed by Jazz Abstractions: Compositions by Gunther Schuller and Jim Hall recorded in 1960. Since both former mentioned projects were large ensemble recordings, they offered little opportunity for meaningful interaction between the pianist and guitarist. Undercurrent, a collection of intimate duets, marked their third studio collaboration and remains one of the most accomplished and rewarding partnerships of their careers.
Includes the bonus tracks from the same sessions "Stairway To The Stars" and "I'm Getting Sentimental Over You".
"Some of the most beautiful, thoroughly ingratiating music it has been my pleasure to hear - now or any other time. This music must be heard. Music of this high order knows no age or school. Real art never does." - ***** Pete Welding, DownBeat
