Asian Spice House - Cosmic Rowers [Japanese Import] Asian Spice House

Seoul-based psychedelic collective Asian Spice House returns with its highly anticipated second album, now receiving its first-ever physical release on CD and vinyl. Already generating buzz in Japan, the album is an immersive voyage where Asian maritime musical traditions converge with psychedelic rock, dub, and electronic music, creating a richly textured and deeply transportive listening experience.

Since their formation, Asian Spice House has forged a unique musical identity by exploring the diverse musical heritage of Asia while seamlessly blending psychedelia, world music, dub, and electronic production. Following appearances at Japan's Hashi no Shita World Music Festival – Soul Beat Asia 2025 and Music Lane Okinawa 2026, the band presents a more mature and expansive sound nearly two years after their acclaimed debut.

Across eleven tracks, the album explores themes of the sea, waves, human desire, and the ever-changing relationship between nature and humanity. Drawing inspiration from the maritime folk traditions of Asia's monsoon regions—including Korean folk music, Japan's Sōran Bushi, and Thailand's Molam—the band reinterprets these influences through contemporary arrangements infused with dub aesthetics, electronic textures, and intricate rhythmic structures. Vintage production techniques inspired by the 1970s and '80s further enrich the music, adding a warm sense of nostalgia while expanding its psychedelic depth.

Released by Seoul's Eastern Standard Sounds—the influential label behind NST & The Soul Sauce, whose 2019 album was named one of Music Magazine's Best Reggae Albums of the Year—this remarkable second album further establishes Asian Spice House as one of the most adventurous new voices in Asia's contemporary psychedelic and world music scene. A captivating fusion of tradition and innovation, it is an essential listen for fans of psychedelic music, dub, global grooves, and boundary-crossing sound.
