Raise The Ark is the new album from Alpha Steppa, marking ten years of Steppas Records and celebrating a decade of forward-thinking soundsystem culture.
Defying convention, this vocal-dub collection introduces listeners to a new world of bass-driven music while expanding Alpha Steppa’s distinct avant-garde dub sound. Drawing influence from Hip Hop, Trap, Traditional Folk and Bass Music, Raise The Ark pushes beyond genre boundaries while remaining firmly rooted in the spirit of dub.
True to the Steppas Records ethos, the album carries a deep and vital message, addressing both contemporary and timeless themes including the climate crisis, social and political issues, roots culture, spirituality and collective consciousness.
Working closely with artists from the Steppas family while also introducing emerging voices from around the globe, the album features contributions from Pupa Jim (Stand High Patrol, France), Sista Awa (Italy/Senegal), Cian Finn (Ireland), Ras Tinny (Suriname), Nai-Jah (Nigeria), Tenor Youthman (Russia), Eva Keyes (Ireland) and Block Mameli (Italy/Ghana).
Combining evocative and thought-provoking vocal performances with thunderous instrumental and dub versions, Raise The Ark is an eclectic, profound and adventurous statement that showcases Alpha Steppa at the forefront of modern soundsystem music.
