Aili & Orson - Care Wa Doko? [Japanese Import] Aili & Orson

Japanese roots meet Belgian electronic pop: Aili & Orson create a uniquely addictive world of danceable electro-pop, experimental sounds, and unforgettable Japanese-language vocals.

Aili & Orson are the duo of Aili, who has Japanese roots and lived in Japan until the age of seven, and Orson Wouters, a beatmaker also known for his work under the name Transistorcake.

At the heart of their sound is a highly danceable blend of electro-pop and electronic music, but the duo refuses to stay within a single genre. Tracks such as “O Soto” reveal unexpected influences from experimental rock, while their broader catalog moves freely between pop, electronic, leftfield, and club-oriented sounds.

What truly sets Aili & Orson apart, however, is Aili's distinctive use of the Japanese language. Having grown up partly in Japan while continuing to maintain a strong connection to the country through her family, her Japanese lyrics possess an unusual sense of phrasing, word choice, and rhythm that feels unlike conventional native Japanese songwriting.

There is something strangely addictive about the way her words flow over Orson's productions—unexpected combinations of Japanese expressions, unconventional rhythms, and a vocal delivery that immediately pulls the listener into the duo's universe. It is precisely this unique perspective on the Japanese language that gives Aili & Orson their unmistakable identity.

Their music has already reached audiences far beyond Japan, including an impressive six consecutive weeks at No. 1 on Los Angeles radio station KCRW, and their growing international following continues to expand.
