The Broadway Bit - a programme of hit show tunes from the '40s and '50s arranged and conducted by the great Mary Paich (1925 - 1995), with himself on piano and an all-star big band that includes Art Pepper, Jimmy Giuffre, Mel Lewis, Scott LaFaro, to name just a few.
A man of formidable talents as a musician, composer and arranger, his resume of work includes arranging film scores such as Disney Studio's animated film Lady and the Tramp, working as accompanist for vocalist Peggy Lee, playing piano for Shorty Rogers' Giants, touring with Dorothy Dandridge, and providing arrangements for many local bands in Los Angeles. As a musician and arranger, he worked with such star names Peggy Lee, Ella Fitzgerald, Stan Kenton, Al Hirt, Art Pepper, Buddy Rich, Ray Brown, Shorty Rogers, Ray Charles, Barbara Streisland, Sammy Davis Jr., and Mel Torme.
Includes the bonus tracks 'No More' and 'It Don't Mean A Thing (If It Ain't Got That Swing)'.
