The Winstons - Amen Brother / Color Him Father The Winstons

Here it is-The Winstons’ ‘Amen, Brother’ is the world’s greatest ever break!

Recorded in Atlanta, Georgia in 1969 by the racially mixed soul group The Winstons, the track was originally recorded as a B-Side and went almost unnoticed until its discovery by producers and DJs that began in the late 1980s and has continued ever since.

The flip-side features ‘Color Him Father’, a superb Curtis Mayfield-esque anthemic soul tune that’s as essential as the A-Side!

This new special Red colour vinyl edition 7” is available to all for the first time ever.

As featured on 1000s of hip-hop and jungle releases. The website 'whosampled.com' currently lists 7839 tracks that sample the tune. Drum & bass producers sped the break up, while hip-hop producers slowed it down.

Here are a few artists who have sampled ‘Amen Brother’ - NWA, Mantronix, Oasis, Slipknot, DJ Zinc, Stetsasonic, DJ Shadow, Linkin Park, PinkPantheress, Shy FX & Apache UK, Ultramagnetic MCs, The Prodigy, Tyler the Creator, Squarepusher, Eric B & Rakim, Lady Gaga, Aphex Twin and David Bowie.
