'In The Fishtank' is an ever-ongoing project of Konkurrent, an independent music distributor in the Netherlands. For this series of releases, Konkurrent invites musicians that they feel strongly related to into the studio to record. They are given two days studio time and freedom to do whatever they like musically. The Fishtank offers a space for expression and experimentation - results may vary but are always surprising.

Norwegian psych lords Motorpsycho collaborate with fellow countrymen Jaga Jazzist. The result is an album-length fusion highlighted by a cover of 'Theme de Yoyo' by Art Ensemble of Chicago. Motorpsycho had been a top target for a Fishtank recording session for many years. When Stickman changed distributors in Benelux two years ago, the time had finally come.

During their 2002 European tour, between tedious press days and various festivals, the three Norwegians, along with the horn section of the Jagga Jazzists, went into the renowned Fishtank studio. Without a fixed plan, they improvised wildly for two days. The result is five unique tracks that showcase the full stylistic range of the two Norwegian bands. The material tends to blend Stax-style soul, Pharoah Sanders, John Coltrane and driving rock elements.
