Poly-Math - Something Deeply Hidden Poly-Math
Vinyl LP
For fans of adventurous progressive music, POLY-MATH are an instrumental band from Brighton and London, blending Ethio-jazz, classic prog, post-rock, and math rock.
Formed in 2013, the band has released several EPs and albums as a three, four, and five-piece, including a crowd-funded double album and two remotely written and recorded lockdown releases. POLY-MATH became early favourites at the UK's ArcTanGent Festival, performing regularly between 2013 and 2018, culminating in a memorable main stage appearance featuring a triple drum kit setup.
Drawing inspiration from artists such as King Crimson, Mulatu Astatke, Omar Rodríguez-López, Juan Alderete, Ill Considered, and Ukandanz, POLY-MATH's sound has continually evolved from release to release.
Something Deeply Hidden, the band's fifth album, moves further into jazz and progressive rock, stepping away from the heavier instrumentation of previous records. Expansive and diverse, the album focuses on intricate musicianship, abstract polyrhythms, and richly layered compositions.
The album title and track names are inspired by American theoretical physicist Sean M. Carroll's book Something Deeply Hidden: Quantum Worlds and the Emergence of Spacetime.
