THURSTON MOORE – By The Fire – 2LP €24.99 - Limited Transparent Orange Vinyl - This is Thurston Moore’s seventh solo album, and features musicians Deb Googe (My Bloody Valentine) on bass and backing vocals, Jon Leidecker aka ‘Wobbly’ (of Negativland) on electronics, James Sedwards on guitar, and Sonic Youth’s Steve Shelley, as well as Jem Doulton, alternating on drums. Prior to isolation during the Covid pandemic, Thurston worked in recording studios in North London until the third week of March 2020 to complete this album.

JOHN PRINE – Souvenirs – 2LP €29.99 – Prine rerecorded 15 early classics so that he could own master recordings of a bunch of songs from his first three albums, as well as a few stragglers from the late ’70s and early ’80s, but the flatteringly spare arrangements and Prine’s wizened delivery only add weight to these heavy-hearted folk tunes.

The band’s last release to feature Merv Pepler and Joie Hinton, who left to form Eat Static, Arborescence was the Ozrics’ fifth studio effort in as many years.
