Trim leads the groups \u003cstrong\u003eHanami\u003c\/strong\u003e and \u003cstrong\u003eRetroreflector\u003c\/strong\u003e; Sulpizio is the constant behind \u003cstrong\u003eHealth and Beauty\u003c\/strong\u003e. Anchoring them are two Chicago mainstays, bassist \u003cstrong\u003eDouglas McCombs\u003c\/strong\u003e (Tortoise, Eleventh Dream Day) and drummer \u003cstrong\u003eQuin Kirchner\u003c\/strong\u003e. Two of them come up as rock and roll players, two as jazz players, and the music lives in how closely they listen across those languages.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eTheir debut, \u003cem\u003eBegin Yr Singing\u003c\/em\u003e, centers on two overdriven guitars merging into something neither could produce alone, over a rhythm section that can lock a groove or let it drift. The result is exploratory but grounded, \"a searching music,\" in Trim's words, that asks questions it doesn't always answer and shifts from one performance to the next.
