Initially planned as something that would resemble the \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cstrong\u003e\u003cspan\u003eAbruptum\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003cspan\u003e demos and early \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cstrong\u003e\u003cspan\u003eUnholy\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003cspan\u003e, it did not take long for the material to evolve into something that was eventually released on the 2001 demo “\u003c\/span\u003e\u003cem\u003e\u003cspan\u003eIn an Excruciating Way…\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/em\u003e\u003cspan\u003e” on tape limited to 100 copies.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eIn January 2002, Wormphlegm played as the opener for \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cstrong\u003e\u003cspan\u003eThe Candles Burning Blue\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003cspan\u003e and \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cstrong\u003e\u003cspan\u003eSkepticism\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003cspan\u003e in Turku, with \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cstrong\u003e\u003cspan\u003eA Rot-Yearner\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003cspan\u003e as session bass player \/ vocalist.
