One half of the duo \u003cstrong\u003eJanel and Anthony\u003c\/strong\u003e, he also performs regularly with \u003cstrong\u003eLow Ways Quartet\u003c\/strong\u003e and \u003cstrong\u003eJames Brandon Lewis. Canty \u003c\/strong\u003eand \u003cstrong\u003eLally\u003c\/strong\u003e were the rhythm section of the band \u003cstrong\u003eFugazi \u003c\/strong\u003efrom its inception in 1987 to its period of hiatus in 2002.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eSince then, \u003cstrong\u003eCanty \u003c\/strong\u003ehas remained active as a documentary filmmaker, producer, and composer, and released a music as a member of the band \u003cstrong\u003eDeathfix\u003c\/strong\u003e. Lally has released three solo albums and toured extensively with a frequently-rotating cast of musicians.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eRecorded at the band’s practice space throughout 2019, it’s an album that more perfectly captures the trio’s current live dynamic, complete with improvisational tangents, playful experimentation, and cathartic sprawl. When \u003cstrong\u003eThe Messthetics\u003c\/strong\u003e recorded their debut album in 2017, the trio had only done a handful of shows and had yet to fully find its footing on stage. In a way, those compositions were a template for the band that \u003cstrong\u003ePirog, Lally, \u003c\/strong\u003eand \u003cstrong\u003eCanty\u003c\/strong\u003e hoped would come into being through subsequent work on the road.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eSince then, \u003cstrong\u003eThe Messthetics\u003c\/strong\u003e have played upwards of 200 shows across the US, Europe and Asia. Their dialog as a performing unit has necessarily focused and intensified. As a result, Anthropocosmic Nest offers a more varied vision of the band.
