It is apt that the anniversary of that session is marked with James’ first release in a trio format.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cem\u003eThe Truth\u003c\/em\u003e sees him working with noted players \u003cstrong\u003eTheo Carasco\u003c\/strong\u003e on drums and \u003cstrong\u003eOrlando Flemming\u003c\/strong\u003e on upright bass, to recreate a sound influenced by the records that \u003cstrong\u003eLes McCann\u003c\/strong\u003e, \u003cstrong\u003eHampton Hawes\u003c\/strong\u003e and \u003cstrong\u003eLonnie Liston Smith\u003c\/strong\u003e were making in the early ’70s.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe sound world of the trio involves an extensive interaction with analogue electric keyboards, be it the Fender Rhodes — James’ lead instrument throughout — the Solina string synthesiser and Hammond organ.
