Helgeson composed both sides and plays Hammond organ on “\u003cem\u003eNuevo Cose\u003c\/em\u003e,” a departure for the seasoned trumpeter. \u003cstrong\u003eConnor Carroll\u003c\/strong\u003e, a regular substitute with the Lakers, plays flute and baritone sax, while \u003cstrong\u003eKevin Gastonguay\u003c\/strong\u003e—an occasional Lakers sub—adds B3 to “\u003cem\u003eCannonball\u003c\/em\u003e.”\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eRecorded at Pierpont’s home studio overlooking Saint Paul’s High Bridge, the recordings have an easy, unforced immediacy that comes from the comfort of players who trust one another.
