Never before released on vinyl, this hard-hitting fan favorite is heavily rooted in ’70s rock-influenced doom. Traditional, slow, and heavy in the vein of \u003cstrong\u003eReverend Bizarre\u003c\/strong\u003e and \u003cstrong\u003eSaint Vitus\u003c\/strong\u003e.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe Gates of Slumber was formed by \u003cstrong\u003eKarl Simon\u003c\/strong\u003e in 1998. Various people were in and out of the group between 1998 and 2001, when the \u003cem\u003eBlood Encrusted Deth Axe\u003c\/em\u003e demo was recorded with \u003cstrong\u003eJamie Walters\u003c\/strong\u003e aka \u003cstrong\u003eDr. Phibes\/Athenar\u003c\/strong\u003e (\u003cstrong\u003eBoulder\u003c\/strong\u003e, \u003cstrong\u003eMidnight\u003c\/strong\u003e) on drums and bass.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eIn 2003, \u003cstrong\u003eJason McCash\u003c\/strong\u003e took over the bass duties and was a long-time member of the band until his untimely demise in 2014, after which Simon decided it was time to call it quits.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThat was until 2019, when the renowned metal festival Hell Over Hammaburg wanted to bring the band back on stage to perform at the festival’s 2020 edition.
