The album was written by \u003cstrong\u003eMertens\u003c\/strong\u003e and \u003cstrong\u003eDörper\u003c\/strong\u003e and received considerable critical acclaim when released in early July 1985 and peaked at #16 on the UK Albums Chart.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eOther singles from \u003cem\u003eA Secret Wish\u003c\/em\u003e include '\u003cem\u003eDuel\u003c\/em\u003e', which reached #21 in the UK singles chart and '\u003cem\u003ep:Machinery\u003c\/em\u003e' which was issued a month after the album's original release.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe album was rebuilt from the multi-track tapes by \u003cstrong\u003eDavid Kosten\u003c\/strong\u003e who says \"I bought \u003cem\u003eA Secret Wish\u003c\/em\u003e on the day it was released in 1985 – I still remember playing the vinyl and having a wonderful kind of out-of-body experience on hearing \u003cem\u003eJewel\u003c\/em\u003e for the first time.
