The album was recorded at \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cstrong\u003e\u003cspan\u003eSt Georges Church\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003cspan\u003e, Carrick On Shannon, Leitrim in a cold early January with a \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cstrong\u003e\u003cspan\u003eWilliam Telford Organ\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003cspan\u003e. Built in 1846, it is reputed to be the second oldest organ in Ireland.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eThe album features two long tracks.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eTrack 1\/Side A\u003c\/strong\u003e: \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cem\u003e\u003cspan\u003e'Pour Upon The Sky'\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/em\u003e\u003cspan\u003e is a story told by the two voices of cello and organ. Influenced by the rhetorical style of 18th century vocal music, the inspiration for this piece came naturally to Eimear who has a background in early music and has performed alongside the organ in a variety of settings from chamber works to \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cstrong\u003e\u003cspan\u003eBach\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003cspan\u003e's larger orchestral works such as \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cem\u003e\u003cspan\u003eSt Matthew Passion\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/em\u003e\u003cspan\u003e. In 18th century music, the cello \u0026amp; organ perform a role as continuo players. \u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eTraditionally the cello and organ are both intertwined and interdependent, playing the bass line and harmonies together and providing a foundation for the rest of the ensemble while soloists come in and out. In \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cem\u003e\u003cspan\u003e'Pour Upon The Sky',\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/em\u003e\u003cspan\u003e Eimear and Natalia play within and without of this traditional form. Freed from the need to hold the solid ground for an ensemble, the cello and organ playfully explore the space as they pass the role of solo and continuo back and forth.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eTrack 2\/Side B\u003c\/strong\u003e: \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cem\u003e\u003cspan\u003e'The Whistling Dust'\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/em\u003e\u003cspan\u003e is a slow steady study of the microscopic flutters of the organs and the organ. The heart of the Telford rattles and breathes as the cello dances in and out.
