Yonkers’ stuff was like nothing anyone had heard back then (or even now really): fucked-up garage psych with dementedly genius lyrics and crazy acid-fried guitar. Yonkers, a legendary Minneapolis-area figure, built his own effects pedals, cut his Fender Telecaster down to a plank, and played like no one else ever. I’m at a loss of words on how to describe this. It’s sort of like a fusion of stripped-down \u003cstrong\u003eBlack Sabbath\u003c\/strong\u003e, \u003cstrong\u003eThe Troggs\u003c\/strong\u003e, \u003cstrong\u003ePere Ubu\u003c\/strong\u003e, and \u003cstrong\u003eThe Cramps\u003c\/strong\u003e??”\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eSub Pop subsequently released the album on CD and then, in 2011, issued a limited vinyl pressing, which has been out of print for many years.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eSadly, Michael Yonkers passed away in 2026 during the planning of this reissue. He was an incredible, truly singular artist, and one of the sweetest people we've ever met.
