At a suggestion of \u003cstrong\u003eIsland Records\u003c\/strong\u003e founder \u003cstrong\u003eChris Blackwell\u003c\/strong\u003e, Ian Dury flew to the Bahamas to record '\u003cem\u003eLord Upminster'\u003c\/em\u003e at \u003cstrong\u003eCompass Point Studios\u003c\/strong\u003e in Nassau, Bahamas, newly reunited with his long-time collaborator \u003cstrong\u003eChaz Jankel\u003c\/strong\u003e. There they were to work with reggae rhythm duo \u003cstrong\u003eSly Dunbar\u003c\/strong\u003e (drums) and \u003cstrong\u003eRobbie Shakespeare\u003c\/strong\u003e (bass guitar) and keyboardist \u003cstrong\u003eTyrone Downie\u003c\/strong\u003e, while backing vocals came from amongst others no less than \u003cstrong\u003eTina Weymouth\u003c\/strong\u003e of \u003cstrong\u003eTalking Heads\u003c\/strong\u003e and \u003cstrong\u003eTom Tom Club\u003c\/strong\u003e fame, along with her sister \u003cstrong\u003eLaura Weymouth\u003c\/strong\u003e.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe album covers a diverse range of musical styles reflecting Dury's influences and background in pub rock, early rock and roll and British music hall whilst also taking in funk and post disco rhythms and is notable for featuring a Sly Dunbar composition in '\u003cem\u003eGirls\u003c\/em\u003e (\u003cem\u003eWatching\u003c\/em\u003e)'.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThere was also not least the single which was deemed controversial enough to be banned from the airwaves '\u003cem\u003eSpasticus\u003c\/em\u003e (\u003cem\u003eAutisticus\u003c\/em\u003e)' which was Ian's protest against the International Year of Disabled Persons, which he considered to be patronising and insensitive.
